Currently, I am very interested in diversity and heterogeneity in swarms (multi-agent systems, optimization, swarm robotics) and implications on evolutionary computation. But I never stopped looking for applications of suffix trees and the like in bioinformatics, especially sequence analysis.

I finished my doctoral thesis (Cooperation in self-organized heterogeneous swarms) within the Parallel Computing and Complex Systems Group at the University of Leipzig in February 2015 under the supervision of Martin Middendorf.

As a chronic traveller I joined the Algorithms & Computational Biology Laboratory at the National Taiwan University in Taipeh, ROC, for two weeks in March 2013, as well as the Advanced Concept Team of the European Space Agency in Noordwijk, NL, for a month in October 2014.
